im from ireland...

but apparantly its currently only available on "pay monthly"

does anyone know if its possible to buy it on "monthly" and then switch over to "speakeasy" (pay as you go) when it becomes available?

also when will it be available on speakeasy?

sorry if thats confusing lol

thanks|||idk|||yer its not going on pay as you go problem solved get a cheap pay as you go phone and an iPod toutch so you will get the functions of the iPhone and you are on pay as you go|||Idk???!!!??? sorry!!!|||no and in UK its only available on o2|||i think its only available on 02 at the moment ....monthly.. but pay as you go will be another year or few months... you cant really get it unlocked.|||The iPhone is the biggest waste of money, the BlackJack is so much better.

Honestly.|||Hey! My mom was born in Ireland, and I lived there for a few years. For better or worse, now, I live in Toronto, I love Toronto, but Ireland is tones of fun.

I was In Ireland 3 days ago. lol.

Anyway, Apple is an American company as you know, and in the USA the method of Cellular (or mobile phone) payment is predominately "pay by month" as it is here, in Canada. In Europe, as we both know, "pay as you go" is very popular. Apple is unable to use a "pay as you go" because the phone not only makes phone calls, but can go online (the internet). These are not the same connection. There is a connection that the iPhone makes to make a phone call, and another "sub -network" e.i. Edge | network that it connect to go online (the web). The cost of going online on the iPhone is very high. However, if the payment method is "pay by month" then they can set a constant rate so that each month you pay 鈧?5* each month and nothing more. If however, the method was "pay as you go" then the cost would be substantially higher; in a month you MAY go through 4-5 "top-ups" of 鈧?5: much higher cost.

4 "top ups" per month= 鈧?0

1 "pay per month"=鈧?5.

It is pure economics, and in the end, it actually puts more money in you pocket. The phone its self remains expensive though.

The iPhone will probably never be available on speak easy and O2 will probably remain the only carrier in the Republic of Ireland for sometime.

Cheers

WOW, you are a very cynical bunch! The phone is nice, I bought a iPhone that I use in England, Germany and France...thankfully, they iPhone has been released in Ireland so now, when I go, I will be able to use it there....Sadly, I can't use it in Canada...damn u Rogers..u make me cry...lol.|||i don't think you can get it pre-payed

i cant belive its barely available over there|||Hmm...lots of totally useless answers

If you buy one it has to be from o2 in the UK, yes, for min 35 a month and 270 to buy it.

Or you can go to ebay and get one for like 拢300......theyre easy as pie to unlock, use any sim you like in it, do whatever you want with it...SDK is coming out soon so there will be hundreds more apps available for it dreckly. iPhone is way better than any Nokia any day.....I hate and would never by an Apple Mac, but the phone is awesome..

Jailbreak it and you can forward messages, you can use mp3s as ringtones, you can do anything....i play nes mario on the way to work or zelda.... - look at the ziphone website. or modmyifone|||i asked my boyfriend for an iphone for my birthday..however I was already in a phone contract .. so he bought me an unlocked one.

To be honest.. I think the iphone is completly over rated.. Some bits on the iphone annoy me.. such as you can forward messages onto other people, you cant use an mp3 for a ring tone etc. I would advise you not to waste your money. get a contract that gives you a free phone.|||*confused beyond compare*|||It'll never be on PAYG, I think with o2 you have to pay 拢250-拢300 and STILL pay a contract fee each month which I think is around 拢40 for 18 months (minimum!)

The phone is a bag of....rubbish, anyway. My friend got one and it's so overrated, I'd rather play with a kids toy phone!|||The iPhone is, unfortunately, ONLY available on contracts with O2. It is possible to 'unlock' the phone using software from the internet so that it will work on any tariff and any netwrok, but this will be breaking the terms of your warranty, and if your iPhone breaks it will be your problem - Apple won't care.|||get one 1st and ill show u the rest|||The iphone isnt and wont ever be available on pay as you go! Apple are very insistant that you buy it for 拢250 and then go on a minimum 18 month contract!!!!!!|||umm wrong section but yea don't own an iPhone so would not know|||I bought mine Iphone through at%26amp;t here in the US. I am not sure how it work there? But I can tell you that the phone itself is GREAT!|||iBRaT|||All you have to do is Unlock ist. So buy the iphone directly from the apple store and tell them you will make the contract later. Then download an unlocking programm and use your old sim. It works fine. I live in vienna and use an iphone from the us and i can call and use it perfectly.|||I'm sorry I have no idea|||I am not sure how to answer this.......but maybe you should wait awhile and then it might be paid "monthly" Srry if this doesn't really help you! Trying to help! LOL|||hey just go to the site below and they sell iphones for $40, from their march winnings, you could get a new one from them|||no, do not get the iPhone, it sucks. u know why? i have a phone that is better- the nokia E70, and i love it more than my family. You've probably never heard of the E70 because Nokia's marketing team is busy finding every last dick in the universe to suck, so I'm going to do their job for them and tell you about this product. And no, I'm not being paid to do this. I'm just tired of the iPhone fanboys shooting huge sticky wads and high-fiving each other (literally) over their stupid cellphones.

When the iPhone was first announced, CEO Steve Jobs spewed enough BS to cover a football field full of babies 3 feet deep in bullshit, which sounds cool because he could have potentially murdered a football field full of babies, but he passed on this opportunity by introducing the phone instead. He claimed that the phone was three devices in one: an iPod, a phone, and an "Internet communications device." Oooh, an Internet communications device?! AWESOME!

It's not three devices in one any more than my laptop is you morons. Using Jobs' loose definition of what constitutes a separate device, technically my laptop can be considered 8 devices in one:

A clock

A calculator

An "Internet communications device"

A phone (I can make voice calls with my modem)

A pornographic media storage device

A video player

A word processor

And an "iPod"

There's no such thing as an iPod. The word "iPod" is a marketing tool for a hard drive with software that plays mp3s. Yeah, doesn't sound so sexy now, does it you chimps? And an "internet communications device" is officially the douchebaggiest way of saying "it has a browser." So actually it's just a phone that plays mp3s and has a browser. SNORE.

iPhone Nokia E70

Resolution: 320x480 352x416

Storage: 4 or 8 gigs (fixed). Unlimited. The E70 can use hot-swappable 2 GB mini SD cards, so you can have as much storage as you want.

Can customize ringtones with your own mp3s:

Can record video:

Screen turns into a smudgy piece of **** after a few minutes of use:

Can send MMS messages:

You have to send your phone to Apple when the battery dies and risk getting your phone lost, stolen, or damaged in transit: Yes. No.

Plays MP3s:

Holds your phone hostage to Apple for new software updates because Apple won't allow everyone to develop applications for it:

Voice dialing:

Can record voice:

Instant messaging: No. Yes.

Can't do fundamental tasks like copy %26amp; paste text: Yes. No. Double negative, bitches!

There you have it: the most objective comparison of two cellphones ever made. I think I'll take the rest of the afternoon off and copy and paste text on my cellphone because I can.|||uh...........yeeeeeeaaaaah
