Is the iphone good enough for driving instructions across the country?

My boyfriend wants to just use his iphone GPS app to drive from Alaska to Eugene OR since we are moving. Is this a good idea? Should he get a real GPS for the car? Will it be more reliable?|||om yes we used it to drive from illinois to california my dad used my iphone it shows yhu the map or step my step like wat exits to take wat turns and everything i loved it|||Currently Iphone can Navigate exactly as the original GPS. Navigon mobile navigator and Sygic North America comes with most advanced voice navigated turn-by-turn directions.

When Compared both of them Mobile navigator from Navigon works better, as Sygic GPS has some bugs in it.

I don't think it's a good idea. You can get GPS systems fairly cheap now a days. The problem with the iPhone GPS is that it is not turn by turn directions with voice. It does not re-route you if you miss a turn. It is as if you were following directions printed out from mapquest.com. With an actual GPS, it will tell when to turn, if you miss a turn and now they will re-route you to a quicker route if there is heavy traffic. The iphone simply shows instructions and that's it. You could go down the wrong road for miles before you relize your not on the right road. Where as an actual GPS won't let that happen.

Good luck!|||Real GPS would be much more reliable.
