What to check for when buying a used iPhone 4?

I have the iPhone 3gs and I want to upgrade to iPhone 4. I'm planning of buying a used one instead of the new one (huge price difference).

So my question is:

What do you check for when buying a used iPhone 4?

Camera, wifi, 3g networking, bluetooth etc..

A detailed answer will be very much appreciated.

Thank you!|||Seems like we have the same situation.

I lost my iphone 3gs and planned to get a used one on eBay.

First of all, let me tell you something.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE GETTING IT ON EBAY.

WHY: because eBay is the most trusting site to purchase used items. You will be protected by eBay in case if anything happens between you and you seller.

LOOK FOR:

1) look closely to the pictures the seller has uploaded and read the description carefully and see if these two match together

2) look for signs of usage, damages or scratches

3) Get the one that its seller accepts RETURNS and has money back guaranty

3) its not important that much BUT its better if you could find one which is still under warranty

i have searched on eBay a lot and i am sure you will find something interesting.

remember to bid at the last time like when 30 minutes or less has left

Good luck|||First of all, you want to make sure that you get it for the correct carrier (verizon or ATT)

Second, feel free to ask for the serial number and check to see if it's still under warranty. You can check to see if it is at apple.com/support next make sure that the phone has not come in contact with any liquid. The phone should have two sensors, one in the headphone jack and one inside the dock connector. If you see pink or red on any of those two sensors, then the phone has come in contact with liquid and it will be considered out of warranty. If the phone's sensors look good, check of course the physical condition and make sure there are no signs of physical damage. You wouldnt want a phone that was badly dropped or anything like that right? And lastly, the software yes, check that the camera works, take photos and video, ensure that you can use both cameras. Examine the multitouch features (swiping from page to page, zooming in on safari, etc) check that it does connect to wifi!! Bluetooth, sure, rarely iPhones have issues with Bluetooth, but thats if you actually plan on using bluetooth, ideally you want Bluetooth off so that you save on battery life. Test the gyro and accelerometer using maps and safari (when the screen flips in safari and when you have the compass feature in maps). Those should be the main things to look for. Don't forget to clear his or her data after the sale. Enjoy your new iPhone :)|||Look for obvious damages. Also plug the phone in and make sure it charges, and holds a charge longer than an hour lol. Plug in head phones, make sure the speakers work, ringer, vibrate, WiFi, camera works both ways. Really just play with it and see if you get a warm and fuzzy about it.. Your gut will be your best judge on making a purchase.
